National Export Initiative



The National Export Initiative (NEI) is an initiative to improve conditions that directly affect the private sector's ability to export.

The NEI will help meet the Administration's goal of doubling exports over the next 5 years

  • by working to remove trade barriers abroad
  • by helping firms overcome the hurdles to entering new export markets-- especially small businesses
  • by assisting with financing

and in general by pursuing a Government-wide approach to export advocacy abroad.



California Pilots NEI Campaign

The four California regional DECs, have joined together in support of the National Export Initiative (NEI). This campaign initiative is the pilot program for an eventual national rollout.



The goal is to have DEC members across the state meet with elected officials and staff members from every Congressional district. The groups have been working together to create a NEI campaign toolkit on CD for DEC members.

National Export Initiative Toolkit

There are four types of resource materials contained in the NEI Toolkit:
  • Document templates make it easy for DEC members to send letters and share case studies that convey proven success, and clearly articulate the goals of the NEI

  • Presentation templates for slideshows, talking points, and display signage are designed to support DEC members in live presentations and event participation

  • Public Relations resources include prepared speeches, fast fact sheets, and news release templates that attract news coverage

  • Meeting and Event resources such as standardized forms, when shared among DEC members via a central point of contact at the National DEC, will serve to populate a Best Practices database. (i.e., sales call report-type).
